Patient Recruitment

We begin the recruitment process by utilizing our large EMR database of over 250,000 patients. In addition, we also employ our ever-growing Clinical Conductor clinical trial management system (CTMS) database of close to 10,000 patients. Our recruitment coordinators are able to identify potential patients based on past medical history, medications, age, sex or any other specific parameter. If our database becomes exhausted, we will then utilize outside sources such as physician referrals, patient flyers, and outside advertisement.

PCR maintains a network of physicians from a variety of specialties including: Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Neurology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Family Medicine, Physical Therapy, Urgent Care, Audiology, Radiology, Cardiology, and Pulmonology. In total, PCR’s network includes over 30 primary and specialty care offices. This network has allowed us to expand our database to over 250,000 patients and continues to grow daily. PCR also maintains close relationships with numerous area specialists such as Cardiologists, OB/GYNs, and Endocrinologists who are often involved as sub-investigators.

Our in-house recruitment and marketing team works full-time to send targeted messaging to the community to help constantly bring in new volunteers. Advertising efforts include, but are not limited to:

  • Social Media Ads
  • Magazine and Bus Ads
  • Email Marketing
  • Television Ads
  • Radio Ads
  • Patient brochures and flyers
  • Outside advertising

Our recruiters visit local medical offices within the PCR network in an attempt to educate and spread awareness about clinical research and volunteer opportunities.  We also hold biweekly meetings in which investigators, our site director, our site development coordinator, study coordinators, and recruitment coordinators come together to discuss recruitment strategies for actively enrolling trials. This is a creative environment for the team to offer advice and ideas regarding new ways to identify candidates.

PCR is located in Summerville, South Carolina just outside of Charleston. We draw volunteers from the Tricounty area of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester as well as Colleton and Orangeburg counties. It is estimated that approximately 30 people move to the Tricounty area daily, allowing us to continue to grow our patient database with volunteers from a variety of backgrounds. PCR’s physician network includes physicians from Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, and Columbia.

Palmetto Clinical Research is renowned for its effectiveness in reaching members of our community. Our recruitment is completed in-house, from phone screening to designing advertisement and social media posts. We pride ourselves with staying up-to-date of the latest and greatest marketing strategies.
